The OS/Scale 00/Founder Outbound Sprint/Addendum B
Addendum B · Message Templates

Four worked examples, plus the break-up message

Every template follows the four-part structure from Step Two: observation, pattern, low-pressure ask, nothing else. Swap the bracketed detail, keep the shape.

A · List-Building MechanicsB · Message TemplatesC · The Lean Tool StackD · AI-Assisted DraftingE · What to Track

Four openers, one structure

Do not write one message and send it to 300 people. Write one message structure and fill in a specific, verified detail for each account. The structure repeats, the proof that you did the research does not.

Template 1
Funding-round trigger · LinkedIn

Hi [Name], congratulations on the [Series A / seed round]. I'm a founder in research mode talking to [role] leaders about how [problem area] changes once headcount starts scaling fast. Would you have 15 minutes to share how you're thinking about it at [Company]?

Template 2
Compliance-deadline trigger · Email
Subject: [Regulation name] question for [Company]

Hi [Name], I noticed [Company] falls under the [regulation] requirements coming into effect [date]. I'm talking to a few [role] leaders about how teams are preparing operationally, not just from a legal standpoint. Would you have 15 minutes in the next couple of weeks? Happy to send the questions in advance.

Template 3
Job-posting trigger · LinkedIn DM

Hi [Name], saw the [role] posting at [Company], it's usually a sign [problem area] is becoming a bigger priority. I'm building in this space and talking to people in similar roles about how they're approaching it before making any hire. Would 15 minutes be possible sometime this week or next?

Template 4
Behavioral-signal trigger · Email
Subject: Following up on your post about [topic]

Hi [Name], I saw your post about [specific topic] and it matched what I've been hearing from a few other [role] leaders lately. I'm a founder researching this problem area closely and would value 15 minutes to hear how you're approaching it at [Company]. Happy to share what I'm hearing from others in return.

The break-up message

Break-up messages convert at a meaningfully higher rate than any single touch before them, because they carry no pressure and are easy to answer. Send this on day 16 if the first three touches got no response.

Hi [Name], I'll leave this here for now rather than following up again. If [problem area] becomes more pressing at [Company] down the line, I'd still welcome the conversation, feel free to reach out any time.

Before you send any of these

  • Verify the bracketed detail first
Every [Company], [role], and [topic] placeholder needs a real, checked answer before sending. An unverified detail is worse than no personalization at all, it reads as generic the moment it is wrong.
  • Do not mention the product
None of the four templates reference what you have built. If the message earns a reply, resist pitching in the first response, save the product for the call.
